The noosphere is a term used to describe how human consciousness and mental activity has influence on the biosphere, including its relation to planetary evolution. In other words, the Noosphere is the sphere of thought enveloping the Earth. The word comes from the Greek noos (mind) and sphaira (sphere). The Noosphere is said to be the third stage of Earth’s development, after the geosphere (rocks, water, and air) and the biosphere (all the living things). And as Chardin posed, the self regulating force or thinking network behind it all. He further believed that woven throughout it all, was love that supports our conscious evolution.
I am introducing this idea as food for thought about the power and the potency of our individual consciousness and how it effects both the collective and cosmic consciousness. At this point, there is no doubt that we are collectively feeling the growing pains of the new coming into form, as old structures fall apart and the process unravels in varying degrees in our lives. The good news is, as an artist, I have experienced that out of chaos comes abundant creativity! So I am continuously reminding myself these days to take a deep breath, allow what no longer works to go, and to make space for the new. Easier said than done you say? Well put on your imagination cap and take an adventure with me.
EXPLORING NEW IDEAS AND FOLLOWING THE BREAD CRUMBS
The inspiration fo this news post was that my mediumship mentor, Suzanne Giesemann, recently shared a 2 part interview with Dr. Jim Krag about the noosphere on Facebook. It brought back memories of a time when I was a personal assistant to Barbara Marx Hubbard (December 22, 1929 – April 10, 2019), who had a personal and global purpose intimately interwoven with these ideas and concepts. Hubbard was an American modern-day female futurist, co-founder and president of the Foundation for Conscious Evolution. Hubbard posited that humanity was on the threshold of a quantum leap if newly emergent scientific, social, and spiritual capacities were integrated to address our global crises.
She was the author of seven books on social and planetary evolution. In conjunction with the Shift Network, she co-produced the worldwide “Birth 2012” multimedia event. I will never forget my short but exciting time being in her presence and the thrill of exploring new ground within my own understanding of the power of conscious awareness.
Some see the Noosphere as a unique future vision at the intersection of three other visions: the Cosmic, the Green, and the Geek. It has also been described as having 4 Perspectives: The “I” Centered, the Group Centered, Global Centered and Cosmic Centered, with LOVE being the key energetic force throughout them all. (Google)
SO WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?
I have posed this question before in relationship to other topics about consciousness in past news posts, and this time Id like to share a short story about how love recently reflected this power of our ability to share information, even across the veil!
ROCKY AND A SHORT TRIP TO CHICAGO
Several weeks ago, during my daily meditation and mediumship practice, I suddenly was deeply aware of a little dog named Rocky. Rocky was a big part of my life during what I will call a dark night of the soul period for me. There he was, big a day and my heart opened to his presence. I sat for a moment wondering why I was snagged by the seemingly random memory of him. So I asked, “why have you come Rocky?” And I heard, “I haven’t been doing well and I transitioned”. This thought both surprised and saddened me. I sat with tears for a few minutes and then expressed the gratitude I felt for his presence in my life and all that he taught me. I recalled with joy and appreciation what a loving companion he had been for me when I needed it the most.
I thanked him for his message and shared a prayer of completion for our time together and blessed him on his way. I noted it in my journal sensing we would meet again one day and then went on with my day. About a week later I took a short trip to Chicago to visit my mother. I had a wonderful time and by the end of the week was grateful to return home to the beautiful blue ridge mountains. Another week went by and during a conversation catching up with a long-time friend, she said, “Des, there is something I wanted to share with you before your trip, but I didn’t want to spoil it for you, so I waited until now”
I couldn’t imagine what she was going to say and yet I had a brief moment of sensing what it might be. She paused then said solemnly, “Rocky died”. Now I was fascinated! How is it that Rocky had come to me about the same time my friend discovered his passing, weeks before, through his own conscious connection with me? My best explanation is: Love and the allowing of the heart to be open and receptive to whatever it is we need to know, in the moment, that is for the greatest good.
I invite you to follow your own bread crumbs and explore a place and/or time in your life that something like this has happened to you. I imagine it too will be a reminder of the power and potency of many hearts uniting in love to reflect the truth of how we are all interconnected. Open your heart, make the Great Mystery your friend and the innate intelligence of the cosmos will always guide you home. Aho!
