ART & ALCHEMY ON A SNOWY DAY IN SANTA FE
I participated in an EcoPrinting workshop with Native American artist Michael Billie at the Encaustic Art Institute where I am a member and exhibit my paintings reside in Santa Fe, NM.
Using plants, flowers, herbs, and bits of found objects we rolled our treasures in silk around a wooden dowel and created alchemy with water, vinegar and copper. Wrapping it tightly with a string from top to bottom we let the bundle steam under fire and voila! gorgeous dyed silk fabric was ours to create with as we wished.
I combined a piece of my fabric with wax, pigment and gold leaf to create To Be Or Not To Bee, 8×8, Silk, beeswax, resin, pigments & metal leaf.
